Check-in and tickets: scan guests in at the door

Tickets give each Going guest a QR code and a six-digit code. At the door you scan it, see a green screen with how many to let in, and the camera is ready for the next guest. Free on every event.

Turn tickets on

  1. 1

    Open the Check in tab

On the event's dashboard, choose Check in.

  2. 2

    Switch on Tickets

Every Going guest now gets a ticket QR and a six-digit code in their confirmation email, and a Show my ticket button after they reply. Events with an RSVP Fee have tickets on from the start.

  3. 3

    Send tickets to earlier guests

Replies that came in before you turned tickets on have no ticket yet. Press Email tickets to Going guests. Each guest is emailed at most once every 12 hours, however often you press it.

Scan guests in

Press Open the door scanner, then Scan with camera. Hold each ticket up to the camera:

  • Green, Admit 4: a valid ticket. The party is checked in, the phone beeps, and the camera reads the next ticket straight away.
  • Amber, Already checked in: this ticket was scanned before, with the time and who scanned it. Check before letting more people in.
  • Red: not a ticket for this event, or the reply isn't Going (Maybe, Can't go, waitlisted or unpaid). You can still press Let them in anyway.

Made a mistake? Press Undo check-in on the result, or Undo on the guest's row. The counter at the top shows guests and parties in out of those expected, and updates from every co-host's phone.

Tips for a busy door

  • Open the scanner on two or three phones. Co-hosts with edit access can all scan at once, and a ticket can only be checked in once.
  • Leave the camera on. The scanner keeps the screen awake, ignores the same ticket held up twice, and clears a green result by itself.
  • Ask guests to open their ticket and turn their screen brightness up while they wait in line.
  • Have someone search by name for guests without their phone. Typing a six-digit code and pressing Enter checks it in like a scan.

Common questions

Is check-in free?
Yes. Tickets, the door scanner, scanner guns and the ticket list work on every event, free or paid.
Who can scan tickets?
The event's host and co-hosts with edit access. A ticket opened by anyone else asks them to sign in and shows nothing.
Can a ticket be used twice?
No. The first scan checks the party in; any later scan shows amber with when and by whom it was first scanned.
Does the scanner work on iPhone?
Yes. The door scanner works in Safari and Chrome on iPhone and Android. Allow the camera when asked.
